Rodney McGee

 

Rodney McGee is a native of Bolton, Mississippi, the second son of five children. He is a graduate from Clinton High School and has attended Hinds Community College and Jackson State University. Rodney has been artistically inclined since he was a child, taking art classes and doodling when uninterested in classroom lectures. 

 

Photography started out as more of a hobby for Rodney. He always had a camera, snapping pictures at different functions he was attending. He did this so much that when people saw him walking towards them with his camera in hand, you would hear, "here comes the paparazzi." But, it wasn't until Rodney reconnected with an old friend that he considered turning his hobby into a career.

 

Mississippi is a beautiful state, and it should be showcased whenever possible.  As much as Rodney likes capturing special occasions and doing photo shoots in his studio, he prefers to use the natural light and natural settings Mississippi has to offer.  Rodney doesn't limit himself in his "area of expertise". He thinks every aspect of life is beautiful and loves the challenge of capturing those moments whether it be a shot of nature, a shot of someone working to build their career, a shot of events and social gatherings where communities come together to mingle and support great causes, or a shot of someone celebrating a special occasion in their life. To Rodney, photography is a way to capture a moment or to freeze time so someone can cherish it forever.

 

Current projects of Rodney's include an up and coming website titled MS Discovered (www.msdiscovered.smugmug.com) and organizing a workshop for both male and female models.
